Independent technology lab

Practical technology. Built from real experience.

JCElectronics is an independent technology lab exploring infrastructure, local AI and software that makes everyday IT work easier.

More from the lab

Tools for the work.
And the places it takes you.

Alongside FieldStack, I'm building tools for AI-assisted development, everyday Mac workflows and photography in the field. Each starts with a problem I actually run into and evolves through real use.

Mac · AI workspace

Qwen Dev Studio

A Mac workspace for talking through ideas and working on code with Qwen. Connect your Ollama server, choose Chat or Projects, and review proposed commands and changes before they run.

In active development
Explore features
  • Separate Chat and Projects spaces, with streaming answers.
  • Review code changes, commands and Codex requests before approving them.
  • Saved conversations, checkpoints and context handoffs for longer tasks.
  • Web search with sources, image questions and approved Codex image edits.

Mac · Capture & organize

Screenshot Manager

A native Mac library for screenshots, copied text and scanned documents. Capture what you need, organize it into collections, and find it again without letting files pile up on the desktop.

In active development
Explore features
  • Area, window and display capture, with clipboard and library options.
  • Collections and search across names and captured content.
  • Preview, rename, mark up and share saved captures.
  • A global shortcut and drag-to-attach for everyday workflows.

Field · Photography

Waypoint Lens

A field-photography companion for planning outings, saving useful places and keeping photographs connected to where they were taken. It brings planning, an iPhone camera and local capture organization into one workflow.

In active development
Explore features
  • Plans, route stops and Waypoints with photographic context.
  • A purpose-built iPhone camera with capture controls for field work.
  • A local workspace for sorting captures and keeping favorites.
  • Preserve and export photographic source material for later editing.

Inside the lab

What I'm working on

A working space for hands-on experiments across networking, infrastructure and software — where useful ideas get tested against real conditions before they become tools.

Networking & site intelligence

Understanding how sites actually behave — topology, addressing, paths and the little details that only show up under load. This is where a lot of FieldStack started.

Servers, virtualization & infrastructure

Building and maintaining the systems that keep everything running.

Local AI experimentation

Running models on local hardware to see what's genuinely useful — and what isn't.

Practical software & field tools

Turning repeated, real operational problems into small, dependable tools that make everyday IT work easier to run. FieldStack is the first of these.

About JCElectronics

Where practical ideas become useful tools.

A place to test ideas, solve real operational problems, and turn useful experiments into practical tools.

JCElectronics is my independent technology lab, where I develop practical software from real experience in networking, infrastructure and local AI. I test ideas against the problems I actually run into, keep what works, and shape it into tools that make everyday IT easier to run. FieldStack, Qwen Dev Studio, Screenshot Manager and Waypoint Lens are growing out of that work — from site intelligence and AI-assisted coding to capture workflows and photography in the field.

  • Test ideas against real conditions before calling them useful.
  • Solve operational problems that keep coming up in the field.
  • Keep only what works — and make it practical.
